ELM327 Bluetooth app for Android

ELM327 is the chip family most cheap diagnostic adapters copy. BTK-Auto expects classic Bluetooth, the serial profile Android uses for these dongles. Pair it in Android Bluetooth settings, then select it in the app.

A label that says ELM327 does not mean the clone implements every command. Basic engine codes often work on a poor copy. Live data, CAN and module commands fail more often. Buy from a seller with a return policy.

If the adapter only advertises Bluetooth Low Energy, the current BTK-Auto release will not use it. Look for classic Bluetooth or a listing that mentions SPP, not BLE alone.

What you can check

  • Connect a compatible classic Bluetooth ELM327 and run Basic Scan at no charge.
  • Keep the adapter you already own, instead of buying a scanner that only speaks to one app.
  • See a failed connection as an adapter or pairing problem before you pay for Full Access.

What this does not promise

  • Guarantee a £10 anonymous clone will complete UDS or multi-ECU work.
  • Support BLE-only ELM327 Mini adapters in this release.
  • Name a third-party dongle as officially tested until a real-car list exists.
