Install the APK on an Android phone or tablet. Basic Scan is read-only and does not require a paid licence; Full Access is activated with the licence key from your account.

Install and connect
- Download the APK and open it from Android Downloads.
- If Android asks, allow installation from this source, then install BTK-Auto.
- Pair your compatible classic Bluetooth ELM327-style adapter in Android Bluetooth settings.
- Open BTK-Auto, select the paired adapter and run Basic Scan.
- If you have Full Access, paste your licence key in the app activation screen.
Adapter buying guide
Choose the dongle carefully
BTK-Auto uses classic Bluetooth SPP. For the best chance of reliable advanced diagnostics, choose a well-reviewed ELM327-compatible adapter from an established manufacturer rather than the cheapest anonymous clone.
Look for
- Classic Bluetooth / SPP support for Android.
- Reliable CAN communication and good command compatibility.
- A recognised manufacturer with documented firmware and support.
- Clear return policy in case the adapter rejects advanced commands.
Avoid assuming
- That every adapter labelled “ELM327” has the same capabilities.
- That a BLE-only adapter will work with the current BTK-Auto release.
- That a very cheap clone supporting basic engine codes will also support UDS or multi-ECU work.
A short BTK-verified adapter list will be published after real-car testing. Until then we do not label any third-party dongle as officially tested by BTK-Auto.
Before using service functions
First verify the adapter and Basic Scan on the vehicle. Advanced service functions are vehicle, ECU and adapter dependent and should only be used when the app reports the function as supported.
